JOB SUMMARY:
The Crisis Management Coordinator II / III is responsible for overseeing a local Crisis Care Center or Crisis Receiving Center with staff that includes Crisis Intervention Therapists, QMHP’s, Peers, and security at the CIT
Center. This team provides services to include crisis mobile response, 23-hour living room milieu, crisis intervention, and crisis stabilization, intake, and referral services. Services will be provided in a crisis care setting, emergency room setting, community, and home settings.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
:

  • Ensure the full-time daytime/nighttime shifts and on-call crisis schedules are complete each month and there is adequate coverage for any shift needing additional assistance. Manage the monthly Nighttime Staffing schedule. Manage Crisis Services staff annual leave, sick leave, FMLA requests, etc.
  • Provide professional face-to-face and/or telephone crisis intervention services for individuals (and concerned others) experiencing acute distress and psychiatric, substance use disorder, or developmental disorders. Evaluate the need for immediate inpatient treatment or other appropriate less restrictive course of treatment. Provide ongoing crisis services in order to provide a warm handover to community-based services.
  • Responsible for training new Crisis Intervention Counselors to ensure all training modalities are complete and the Agency training checklist is complete. Complete required paperwork for newly hired staff, inform magistrates and VACSB of new hires and assist Director with interviewing and hiring new staff. Ensure all Crisis Intervention Services staff is current with learning management system (a.k.a., SABA) trainings. Provide training to any current Mandated Prescreener in the Agency, and train new qualified Agency staff on crisis services as needed. Maintain official Agency list of Virginia Mandated Prescreeners.
  • Address any staffing assignment issues and take after-hour staffing calls or will have select senior staff scheduled to provide consultation and feedback for cases that may become reportable events (unexecuted Temporary Detention Order, TDO, expired Emergency Custody Order, ECO, or elopement of consumer) or any type of legal or placement issues. Responsible for training and updating Crisis Intervention Counselors assigned to provide after-hour staffing.
  • Complete and staff with the Director of Crisis Management Services or Division Director of Adult Behavioral Health Services any DBHDS TDO Exception Report for adults or youth (required by Performance Contract) and any weekly Critical Event Reporting Form (required by Regional Protocol). Complete the monthly Critical Event Report for the Director of Crisis Intervention Services to be forward to the CSB Regional Manager. Ensure the monthly OIG report is provided to Director of Crisis Management Services.
  • Provide ongoing weekly clinical supervision to all team members. Complete six month and annual evaluations of all Crisis Intervention Services staff. Schedule and facilitate regular staff meetings with full time and contract Crisis Intervention Services staff.
  • Follow all Agency policies, Performance Contract, Regional Protocols and Virginia Statutes pertaining to Crisis Response Services.
  • Participate on local Community Emergency Response Disaster Team.

OTHER DUTIES
:
  • Perform such other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
:
  • Knowledge of mental illness / substance abuse symtomatology
  • Skills in oral and written communication
  • Basic knowledge of crisis intervention and family systems therapy
  • Skills in decision making, assessment, and interviewing


Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Level 16 (Managing a Crisis Care Center): Master’s degree in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, or a related Human Services field; licensed professional; certified Commonwealth of Virginia mandated prescreener preferred or required within 3 months of hire.

Level 17 (Managing a Crisis Receiving Center): Master’s degree in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, or a related Human Services field; licensed professional; certified Commonwealth of Virginia mandated prescreener preferred or required within 3 months of hire.


Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record.
