JOB SUMMARY:
The Automatic Cutting Machine Operator operates and maintains automatic and manual cutting equipment in the apparel cutting room with a focus on precision, quality, productivity, and safety. This role includes preparing and executing cutting jobs, reviewing specifications and markers, monitoring machine performance, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting the training of new cutting personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Cutting Operations
- Set up, operate, and monitor automated cutting systems, including Lectra iX6 as well as manual cutting equipment.
- Review cutting tickets, markers, and production schedules to ensure accuracy prior to cutting.
- Select correct cutting parameters and verify pattern data before running cutting programs.
- Load materials, align fabric lays, and ensure proper placement to minimize waste and ensure quality.
- Monitor cutting operations and identify machine malfunctions or quality issues.
- Sort, bundle, and identify cut components by style, size, and color for downstream operations.
- Inspect materials for defects, shade variations, or flaws and report issues promptly.
OTHER DUTIES:
Quality and Documentation
- Perform quality checks to ensure cut components meet specifications and marker requirements.
- Interpret work orders, markers, patterns, and cutting instructions accurately.
Preventive Maintenance and Equipment Care
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including blade changes, cleaning, lubrication, and basic adjustments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance logbooks for all cutting room equipment.
- Assist the Equipment Maintenance Technician for cutting with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance as required.
Training and Continuous Improvement
- Support training and onboarding of new cutting room personnel.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, fabric utilization, and waste reduction.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with marker setup, spreading, tagging, and bundling as needed.
- Perform other duties consistent with departmental needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hands-on experience with Lectra iX6 automated cutting systems and spreaders.
- Proficiency using manual cutting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Job Requirements
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Minimum of two (2) years of cutting experience in an apparel manufacturing environment
At least one (1) year of fabric spreading experience
Knowledge of grading, pattern making, and cutting room quality standards
Familiarity with technical cutting terminology in English
