What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Operations Manager position at Mount pleasant Dental Assistant School?
Dental Operations Manager
Pleasant Smiles Dental — Mt. Pleasant, TX
Full-Time | On-Site | Reports to the Director of Operations
$70,000–$90,000 base performance bonus
We're Scaling From a $6M Practice to a $12M Mega-Office
Pleasant Smiles Dental is the surgical hub of a growing dental group in Mt. Pleasant, TX. We run a high-volume All-on-X, implant, and sedation practice with a team of 20 — and over the next 1–2 years we're expanding from 12 operatories to 25, growing the team to 40–50 people, and building out an in-house dental lab. We're looking for a hands-on Dental Operations Manager to run the business side of the practice day to day and grow into a bigger role as we scale.
About Pleasant Smiles Dental
Pleasant Smiles Dental is the flagship, All-on-X surgical hub of a multi-office dental group. We perform full-arch implant surgery, single/regular implant placement, and IV sedation multiple days a week, supported by an in-house dental lab and a dedicated All-on-X patient journey — from candidacy quiz through same-day provisional to final zirconia prosthesis.
About the Role
This is a working operations seat, not a figurehead title. You'll own scheduling, staffing, patient flow, and the daily systems that keep a busy surgical practice running, reporting to the Director of Operations as the team and the building both grow. One year in, you'll have helped stand up the systems and team structure needed to support the move from 12 to 25 operatories, and you'll be positioned to take on more scope and comp as the practice grows toward $12M.
What You'll Do
- Own daily operations — scheduling, patient flow, staffing coverage, and the high-production/low-production column system that keeps a surgical schedule moving efficiently
- Support hiring and team growth — help recruit, onboard, and develop staff as the team scales from 20 to 40–50 people, including dental assistants moving through tiered clinical training
- Track the KPIs that matter — production, collections, case acceptance, schedule utilization, and patient satisfaction, with regular reporting to the Director of Operations
- Help run point on the physical expansion — coordinate day-to-day logistics of the buildout from 12 to 25 operatories with minimal disruption to live patient care
- Build and enforce systems — SOPs, policies, and accountability structures that let the practice scale without losing quality or culture
- Own compliance basics — OSHA, HIPAA, and sedation/surgical safety protocols across a growing clinical team
- Partner directly with the Director of Operations — turn strategic priorities into daily operating decisions
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Experience as an Office Manager, Practice Manager, or Operations Manager in a dental practice
- Experience with dental practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, or similar)
- Strong people leadership — hiring, coaching, and holding a team accountable
- Comfort working in (or strong motivation to quickly adapt to) a high-volume surgical/implant environment
- Basic financial fluency — comfortable reading production/collections reports and connecting daily operations to the numbers
Preferred (this is where the strongest candidates stand out):
- A track record of having grown or scaled a dental practice before — patient volume, revenue, team size, or operatory count
- Experience specifically in implant, All-on-X, oral surgery, or sedation dentistry
- Experience managing a practice through a physical expansion or renovation
- Experience building or improving SOPs, scorecards, or onboarding systems from scratch
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $70,000–$90,000, based on experience
- Performance bonus tied to practice production, collections, and KPI targets
- Employee dental care discounts
- Paid time off (PTO)
- 401(k)
- Growth trajectory: real opportunity for increased scope and compensation as the practice grows from $6M to $12M
