Position Objective:
The Food Retail Assistant works at Heartwood (coffee bar) and/or the Fountain providing quality customer service in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
General Qualifications:
The Food Retail Assistant is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Provide prompt courteous service to customers.
- Prepare proper and sanitary food and drink orders.
- Control food and drink quality and quantity.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Organize and stock supplies and displays.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- High school graduate.
- At least one year college experience.
- Food Handler's Card (before arriving at camp).
Work Experience:
- Previous food, retail, or sales experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a heart to serve.
- Must be a punctual and responsible individual.
- Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
- Must be observant and attentive.
- Able to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
- Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and procedures.
Physical Demands:
The physical environment requires the employee to work inside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and requires lifting of 50 lbs.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
- Will be assigned a secondary role(s).
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
