General Qualifications
The General Maintenance Worker II is a Ministerial Support position. Ministerial Support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to personally affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, it is expected that staff who fill these roles – no matter their personal beliefs - respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Additionally, they are required to abide by MHA’s culture code and standards of conduct. All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.

Position Objective
This is a “Swing Shift: position for the following days of the week. Thursday–Monday (3pm-12am)
The General Maintenance Worker II (nights and weekends) - is responsible for the continued safe and functional operation, maintenance and physical improvements of MHA facilities, to ensure outstanding and life-transforming guest experience in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Maintain fixtures, furnishings, equipment and room finishes in all the guest accommodation units and camp wide facilities to ensure a safe and pleasing environment for all staff and guests.
- Perform work orders associated with, but not limited to, heating and cooling systems, door locking systems, room safes, plumbing and electrical fixtures, all types of flooring and wall coverings, windows, window treatments, and furniture.
- Maintain the exterior and interior finishes of all units and camp wide facilities to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May occasionally oversee the work of volunteers or part time staff during specific projects.
Education
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facility maintenance, light construction or related field.
- Must have documented experience in maintaining and improving buildings, grounds and equipment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in the repair and maintenance of common residential and commercial plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
- General building maintenance/construction skills.
- Basic interior and exterior painting skills.
- Mechanical systems’ skills that support electrical, plumbing, HVAC, low voltage controls, water and sewer system operation, etc.).
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision.
- Ability to use a personal computer or smart phone for basic functions such as time clock use and work request processing.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and added duties on a daily basis.
- Ability to work well with others.
Physical Demands

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires seeing, hearing, talking, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs. continually over the course of the workday without limitation and be physically able to meet the demands of various intensive labor duties as listed under “Key Job Accountabilities.” |
Additional Requirements/Skills
- Required to be available for scheduled “on-call” shifts according to MHA’s on-call policy.
- Will be required to work evenings, or weekends.
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s mission, vision, values and commitment statements.
- Continued willingness to attend training classes or seminars as directed by the General Maintenance Manager and the Director of Facilities.
- Adherence to company dress code (MHA provided work shirts) and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable DMV record based on MHA’s driver qualifications guidelines.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
