Mount Greylock Regional School District seeks to recruit a Substitute Custodian for the Mount Greylock Regional School, a high-performing middle and high school located at 1781 Cold Spring Road in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Flexible Scheduling:
This substitute position can be flexible for the successful applicant and is ideal for someone looking for additional hours that can be worked into their schedule as a secondary supplemental position during evening hours between 6 PM and 12 AM. Ideally, the District is hoping to find an applicant who can work in this role for a guaranteed two hours per week or eight hours per month as a guaranteed minimum. Any opportunity for additional hours would be on a mutually agreed on-call per diem basis.
Compensation:
The pay rate for our Substitute Custodian role is $18.44 per hour.
Responsibilities
Under general supervision, performs various custodial duties supporting classroom and administrative operations. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, tasks that require maintaining the cleanliness, good order, sanitary, and secure condition of the school and/or administrative spaces. Custodians must be capable of working reliably and independently to carry out assigned tasks and work schedules. Custodians are evaluated annually by the Principal. Evaluations are submitted to the Superintendent's Office.
Essential Functions:
- Cleans, sweeps, mops, waxes, dusts
- Washes windows, walls, floors and furnishings
- Picks up paper and other debris, empties and cleans trash receptacles inside and outside of buildings
- Arrange and move furnishings, transport and deliver educational supplies
- Operates vacuums, floor machines, buffers, and carpet cleaning equipment in addition to any new equipment introduced to the facility.
Ability to:
- Operate standard and specialized cleaning equipment and tools
- Understand and carry out both written and oral instructions
- Use hand and small power tools to accomplish minor repairs and adjustments
- Maintain work schedules in the performance of cleaning tasks
- Adhere to safety standards and safe practices and procedures
- Maintain cooperative and productive working relationships through courtesy and tact when interacting and working with others.
- Retain a valid license to operate any school equipment
- Ability to become certified in federal and state-mandated safety programs as required
Knowledge of:
- Methods, materials, and equipment related to the cleaning and maintaining various surfaces, furniture, and equipment typical in schools.
- Safety practices relating to the handling, storage, and use of chemical cleaning products and custodial equipment
- Cleaning, sanitation, and health standards
Qualifications:
Evidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The above mentioned requirements represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability.
