This is a full-time, on-site role for a High School Counselor located in Sitka, Alaska. The High School Counselor will support students by providing academic advising, career counseling, and personalized guidance to help them achieve their educational and career goals. Responsibilities include assisting students with course planning, facilitating their social and emotional growth, and addressing their academic, career, and personal challenges. The counselor will also act as a resource for parents, teachers, and administrators to enhance the overall student experience.
- Demonstrated skills in Student Counseling and supporting High School Students in their personal, academic, and social development
- Proficiency in Career Counseling and providing guidance to students in exploring post-secondary education and career opportunities
- Experience in Academic Advising and assisting students in creating effective educational plans
- Knowledge and experience in the field of Education with an understanding of high school curricula and student needs
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, parents, and other stakeholders to support student development
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field is required
- Licensure or certification in school counseling is preferred
- Familiarity with the unique cultural and educational needs of diverse student populations is a plus
