About The Unit
The Mount Carmel St. Ann's Mother Infant unit is a 40 bed unit and will see maternity patients, well moms and babies and some low risk GYN patients. This unit has baby friendly accreditation and is committed to excellence in patient care.

The Lactation Consultant, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care, consultation and education for patients, families, nursing staff, medical staff, allied health professionals, nursing students and the community regarding lactation in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Lactation Consultant within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

The Lactation Consultant within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and evaluates patient care for breastfeeding mothers and babies, utilizing evidence based practice
- Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components
- Work with state-of-the-art technology
- Demonstrates the ability to manage lactation assignment effectively
- Provides equipment as needed, formulates feeding plan with parents, makes referrals for services as needed
- Promote evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®
- Graduate from school of nursing
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
- Certified by International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners
- Effective Communication Skills
- Minimum of two years recent and relevant clinical experience
