Job Overview
We are a small city church located 30 miles north of Durham, NC. Population of 9,000.
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Music Minister to lead and nurture the musical worship experience within our faith community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for spiritual leadership through music, fostering an environment of worship, mentorship, and community engagement. Has the ability to play organ or piano. This role offers an opportunity to influence lives positively through music ministry while working collaboratively with church staff and congregation members.
Duties
- Lead congregational singing during worship services, special events, and prayer meetings
- Select appropriate music that aligns with the church’s spiritual themes
- Rehearse with the choir, or worship team to ensure cohesive and uplifting performances
- Mentor and develop choir members and volunteers, encouraging their musical growth and spiritual development
- Maintain musical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition for use
- Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes new members and promotes active participation in music ministry
Skills
- Organist/pianist
- Proven experience in Teaching music or leading worship teams effectively
- Strong Leadership skills to motivate and guide volunteers and team members
- Excellent Communication skills for clear instruction, collaboration, and fostering community relationships
- Ability to Mentor emerging musicians and choir members to develop their talents and spiritual understanding
- Deep understanding of musical styles suitable for worship settings and the ability to adapt to diverse congregational needs
- Spiritual maturity aligned with the values of the church community
- Organizational skills to plan rehearsals, schedules, and music selections efficiently
