What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Summer Camp Coordinator position at Mount Abraham Unified School District?
The ELP Camp Deer Leap Coordinator will lead out on daily activities for between 15 and 20 rising 7th and 8th graders. Our camp is located on a local retired vegetable and flower farm with our home base being a large barn with access to two yurts, a kitchen, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Camp focuses on outdoor education with activities such as building fires, cooking over the fire, mountain biking, hiking, wild foraging, and swimming. We also incorporate the arts with a play, movie making, story telling, screen printing, painting, and clay work each summer.
Many of these offerings are taught by other ELP staff but we like our Camp Coordinator to bring their own passions, skills, and interests to planning camp activities. In addition we provide transportation and planning support for the whole camp to go on two field trips per week. Past locations have included Killington Alpine Park, hiking Mt. Abe, biking the bike path in Burlington, Six Flags amusement park, Ausable Chasm, and many other destinations!
This position is supported by a college age or older assistant, a mental health support role, and a high school age assistant. Theres also full support from the ELP camp directors to help with specific student needs, field trip planning, and general camp logistics.Pay: $25.00 - $29.00Dates: 6/22 - 7/31, M-F 7:30 - 5:30, overtime pay included.
