The Lead DSP supports the CILA Supervisor in overseeing the daily operations of assigned CILA homes. This role combines direct support responsibilities with leadership duties to ensure high-quality care and a positive team environment.

Qualifications

● Minimum of 1 year working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)

● High School diploma or GED

● Demonstrated leadership skills or supervisory experience preferred

● Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance

● Strong verbal and written communication skills

● Medication Administration Trained (ADSP)

● CPR/First Aid, IDOT/Wheelchair Securement, and Authorized DSP (training provided)

Key Responsibilities

●

● Provide direct care and support to individuals to promote independence and community integration

● Ensure Implementation Strategies are followed and properly documented

● Assist individuals with CAB meetings, personal finances, shopping, appointments, and community activities

● Promote recreational, educational, and social opportunities

●

● Support the CILA Supervisor with oversight of daily operations

● Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to DSP staff

● Communicate daily staffing needs and assist with shift coverage coordination

● Provide peer coaching and communicate concerns to the CILA Supervisor for further action when appropriate

● Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and fill open shifts as needed

●

● Reinforce compliance with state regulations and accountability with agency policies

● Attend required meetings and trainings

● Assist with CILA documentation under the direction of the CILA Supervisor

● Ensure homes meet all safety standards and are clean, organized, and welcoming

● Submit maintenance requests promptly

Physical requirements

● Ability to lift, bend, and assist individuals with mobility needs

● Stamina to actively engage throughout the workday

● Ability to safely secure wheelchairs in IDOT vehicles or agency vans

● Ability to independently lift and transfer up to 50 to 75 pounds to help individuals in and out of beds, wheelchairs, or baths

● Continuous movement, including frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs

● Ability to see, hear, communicate, and safely perform the essential functions of the position, including driving agency vehicles, administering medications, recognizing environmental hazards, responding to emergencies, and monitoring the health and safety of individuals served, with or without reasonable accommodation.
