Why This Role

  • Cross-training in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Formal coursework (typically one day per week) hands-on rotations = accelerated skill growth.

What You Will Do

  • Keep assets healthy: Assist with preventive maintenance on CNC equipment, robotic welding cells, conveyors, stamping presses, and assembly systems.
  • Get systems back online fast: Support line restarts to reduce unplanned downtime and protect production schedules.
  • Fix what fails: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues under supervision; replace wear components like bearings, belts, seals, filters, and lube fittings.
  • Work the electrons and code: Help diagnose 120V/240V/480V circuits, VFDs, and control panels; use PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) to pinpoint faults and make minor program edits; interpret schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams.
  • Build and align: Align, install, and remove mechanical components; perform hydraulic/pneumatic maintenance (pressure tests, hose changes, valve adjustments); support rigging and millwright activities.
  • Document and operate safely: Log work accurately in the CMMS; follow LOTO, confined space, and hot work procedures; participate in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and required training; maintain 5S order.

Must-Haves

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Enrolled in or eligible for a registered apprenticeship (JATC, UAW-affiliated, or equivalent).
  • Basic grasp of trades concepts and ability to read entry-level prints/schematics/technical drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed by production.
  • Screening: Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

Physical Demands

  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs solo; team lift for heavier items.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in elevated-noise environments.
  • Consistent use of PPE: safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, and hearing protection.

  • Process knowledge welcomed: headliner manufacturing, polybond, thermobond, waterjets.
  • Technologies you’ll touch: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC); Conveyor Systems.
