Role Description The Mortgage Loan Officer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Freehold, NJ, with a mix of in-office and work-from-home flexibility. The individual in this role will cultivate and manage borrower relationships, assess clients’ financing needs, and recommend appropriate mortgage products. Day-to-day responsibilities include taking and processing loan applications, gathering and reviewing documentation, coordinating with underwriters, and monitoring files through approval, closing, and post-closing. The Mortgage Loan Officer will collaborate closely with real estate professionals, maintain detailed knowledge of current mortgage programs and guidelines, and ensure all activities comply with lending regulations and company policies. The role also involves delivering high-quality customer service, explaining complex loan terms in clear language, and following up proactively to support a smooth and timely closing process.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a Loan Officer, with a strong track record of originating and closing residential mortgage loans.
- In-depth knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgage Lending practices, including conventional, FHA, VA, and other common loan products.
- Familiarity with Underwriting standards, risk assessment, and documentation requirements to help structure compliant and approvable loans.
- Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and guide borrowers through the mortgage process.
- Relevant state mortgage loan originator (MLO) license or the ability to obtain and maintain required licensing.
- Proficiency with loan origination systems and basic office software; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborating with in-office teams and managing tasks independently from home.
- Prior experience working with real estate brokerages or in a similar sales-focused financial services role is beneficial.
