Department Overview Motorola Solutions is a world leader in the field of professional mobile communications systems with an impressive heritage of technological innovations and a global base of installed systems. The group's main business is the design and implementation of mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers. The NYC Engineering Team primarily supports State and Local Government Public Safety infrastructure and subscriber design and implementation for projects in New York City. Our office is conveniently located in downtown Brooklyn, steps from major subway hubs. Job Description The Presales System Engineer (Internship) will get the opportunity to work closely with our Communication Systems Engineers, who design radio communication solutions, from the conceptual phases through to implementation that meet customer's requirements. They consult with the customer to determine their requirements to design the best solution to meet their needs. Senior Engineers support their colleagues to enhance both individual and group competencies, including mentoring junior system engineers. We expect our engineers to operate as professionals and take responsibility for their development including professional and technical skills needed for their success as an engineer. Responsibilities: In cooperation with the sales, product development, and project management they develop technical strategies and generate proposals to customers presenting Motorola's solution. Provide coordination with the design and planning of the customer solutions using advanced technologies and provide technical support throughout the pre-sales phase of the project. Involves coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, design of system architecture, equipment selection, proposal generation, and presentations of proposed solutions to customer. Engaged in the implementation of these solutions as originally conceived. Take responsibility for all technical aspects of the assigned project from award until system acceptance. Involves implementation planning, system acceptance testing, coverage testing, and system staging. Work to ensure that the our sales professionals and customers are kept up to date on the latest technology offerings from Motorola Solutions and their relevance to customer needs. Qualifications: High School Diploma required Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an expected graduation date on or after December 2027. Returning to school in the Fall of 2027. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position. Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment Experience working with customers is desirable Experience/ Knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking is desirable. Experience/ Knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is desirable Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/ or Amateur Radio/ HAM is desirable Location/Travel: Preferred candidates will live in the Northeast/New England Schedule: Remote Full Time work, Mon - Fri #LI-KF2 Basic Requirements High School Diploma required Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an expected graduation date on or after December 2027.
