What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Associate position at Motorboat Mechanics?
About the Role
This isn't a sit-behind-a-desk-and-answer-phones job. As Operations Associate, you'll be at the center of everything — managing the customer experience, building local partnerships, helping shape how we operate, and running social media and reviews across all of our markets.
You'll start by learning the business inside and out: how jobs flow from first call to final pickup, how our technicians work, how parts get sourced, and what makes a customer come back. From there, you'll take on more. This role is designed to grow with you.
If you're a recent college grad who's organized, driven, and excited about getting into a fast-growing company where you can actually make an impact — this is it.
What You'll Do
Service Coordination
• Answer inbound calls and customer texts — qualify service requests, gather boat details, and set expectations
• Schedule service appointments and coordinate technician availability
• Own the customer journey from first contact through job completion, invoicing, and pickup
• Keep our systems updated with detailed job notes, status changes, and customer info
• Build estimates, send quotes, handle approvals, generate invoices, and collect payment
Marketing & Partnerships
• Build relationships with local marinas, dealers, boat clubs, and lake communities across our locations
• Represent Motorboat Mechanics at events and networking opportunities
• Help drive awareness and fill the service pipeline across our markets.
Social Media & Review Management
• Manage Motorboat Mechanics' social media presence across all markets
• Monitor and respond to customer reviews company-wide
• Help build our online reputation and tell the story of what we do
Operations & SOP Development
• Help build out and refine operational SOPs
• Document what works, flag what doesn't, and help create repeatable processes we can use as we scale
• Coordinate with the parts team, technicians, and management to keep jobs moving and catch issues early
Who You Are
• Recent college graduate — Business, marketing, communications, or similar degree preferred. What matters more is your work ethic and willingness to learn.
• A strong communicator — You're comfortable on the phone, clear in writing, and know how to talk to people. Customers feel taken care of after talking to you.
• Organized and detail-oriented — You can juggle multiple priorities, take thorough notes, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
• Self-starter — You don't wait to be told what to do. You see what needs to happen and you go do it.
• Tech-savvy — You'll use multiple systems daily (Jobber, Shop Monkey, Ring, Slack, Trello, Google Workspace). You pick up new software fast.
• Genuinely curious — You want to understand how a business runs, not just do your piece of it. You ask good questions.
• Social media fluent — You know what works on social, you can create content, and you understand how online reviews shape a business.
