What are the responsibilities and job description for the Battery Installation Technician position at Motor City Battery Company?
Overview
Motor City Battery Company is a fast growing, family owned business headquartered in Lincoln Park, MI. We have five retail stores and a warehouse in Romulus. Our primary focus is car batteries. We sell them and install them for customers for free. Customers also have the option to buy a battery and do their own installation. We also sell motorcycle, marine, lawn & garden, golf cart, and many other types of batteries.
Responsibilities
- Priority responsibility as the first installer - This individual will take direction from the store managers, and perform the installation on assigned vehicles
- As employee gains experience, they will conduct entry level diagnostics on vehicles to ensure that the battery is the problem, and not the charging system or other possible vehicular problems.
- Core sorting and cleaning - When not engaged with a customer, the employee will be responsible for cleaning batteries and sorting through old core batteries, that need to be prepared for storage.
- Battery Preparation - Employee will learn how to fill and charge batteries for customers, particularly motorcycle batteries.
Requirements
- No certification is necessary, but if you are certified in electrical, the starting wage and opportunities for advancement are greater.
- Good Transportation. There are times when the employee will be asked to fill in at other locations due to sickness and/or vacations.
- Weekend Work - We are open seven days a week and most employees are required to work some part of the weekend. None of our employees work both Saturday and Sunday, we stagger the shifts so that everyone gets a portion of the weekend off.
- Working till 7:00 p.m. - Not every day, but a couple of times per week the employee will have to work until 7:00 p.m.

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
