What are the responsibilities and job description for the Python Developer position at Motion Recruitment?
About the Company
Motion Recruitment has partnered with a client in Dallas, TX and are seeking a Python programmer for a contract role.
About the Role
Do you love writing clean, powerful Python code that actually does things faster — not just prettier? Are you someone who enjoys thinking in parallel — slicing problems into concurrent, elegant solutions? Do you have a hacker’s instinct to debug, benchmark, and squeeze every drop of performance out of a function? You’ve ever looked at an AI code suggestion and thought, “I can write that better myself.” If so, we might be looking for you — a Python developer who thrives on real-world problem solving, not just prompt engineering.
Res ponsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Python-based applications with a focus on parallel execution, multi-threading, and asynchronous processing.
- Solve complex data and performance challenges through hands-on coding and creative algorithmic thinking.
- Work with cross-functional teams to architect efficient pipelines and services that scale — horizontally and intelligently.
- Contribute to projects that value code quality, performance, and clarity over shortcuts.
- Participate in interactive, real-time code challenges designed to assess your logical thinking, problem decomposition, and coding style — no AI tools allowed.
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of Python 3.x, including asyncio, concurrent.futures, multiprocessing, or similar concurrency libraries.
- Experience building high-performance systems, data pipelines, or distributed applications.
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and runtime complexity — the kind that makes your code both smart and fast.
- A natural curiosity for solving problems from first principles rather than relying on pre-baked answers.
- Comfort in a test-driven, collaborative development environment.
Required Skills
- Raw coding skill, not tool dependency.
- Ability to solve real, complex challenges — not just implement tickets.
- Experience with live, interactive coding sessions where you build, test, and optimize your own solution in real time (no AI, no copy-paste).
- Proven experience with AWS, Terraform, PostgreSQL, and GitHub.
- Solid background in API design, development, and integration.
- Experience ensuring that proposed designs are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
