JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to support as-built projects and assist with maintaining and updating mechanical drawings for natural gas facilities. This role will focus on working within a CAD environment to manage piping, civil, and structural drawings for compressor stations, meter stations, and pipeline systems.
The Mechanical Drafter will partner closely with the Lead Plant Designer to execute drawing updates, manage 3D model sets, and ensure accuracy across documentation. This position requires strong experience with CADWorx Plant Professional and the ability to work independently across multiple projects of varying complexity.
The ideal candidate brings experience in plant or pipeline environments, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality drafting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Complete mechanical redline updates for meter and compressor station drawings
• Maintain and update piping, civil, and structural drawings in AutoCAD
• Execute as-built drawing projects across natural gas facilities
• Manage and maintain multiple 3D model sets
• Ensure drawings are properly stored and maintained within document management systems
• Perform QA/QC reviews on all drawings prior to submission
• Provide regular updates to the Lead Designer on project progress
• Utilize raster editing tools and work with x-ref supported drawing files
• Collaborate with drafting team members to complete deliverables
• Apply industry standards and terminology related to natural gas and pipeline systems
Required Qualifications:
• 3 years of experience in mechanical drafting within plant or pipeline environments
• Strong experience with CADWorx Plant Professional (required)
• Experience building and managing 3D piping model sets
• Knowledge of P&ID symbols, standards, and terminology
• Experience working within AutoCAD environments
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the natural gas transmission or pipeline industry
• Familiarity with document management systems such as Meridian (or similar)
• Experience with raster editing tools
• Prior experience supporting compressor or meter station projects
Working Conditions:
• Hybrid work environment (Houston office remote flexibility)
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs)
• Ability to manage workload and deadlines in a hybrid setting
