What are the responsibilities and job description for the Labor Relations Specialist position at Motion Recruitment?
Our client, a leading energy and utility provider, is looking to hire a Labor Relations Assistant. This is an onsite role based in Merrillville, IN.
This role is a 6-month W2 contract with benefits!
As a Labor Relations Assistant, you will act as an operational bridge between Human Resources and local union leadership. You will make sure internal job postings and personnel movements are aligned with union agreements, coordinate union correspondence, run HRIS queries, and deliver data and reporting support across key initiatives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support union workflows, including attendance reports, job bidding and bumping processes, and pay change approvals
- Lead and process new job creations, job codes, budget locations, and job requisitions
- Operate within the HRIS (Workday), manipulating data into Excel and PowerPoint to generate reports, track HR metrics, and support leadership decision-making
- Assist employees with HR inquiries, policies, and procedures
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources
- 3–5 years of HR administrative support experience
- Experience with an HRIS platform (Workday preferred)
