Job Title: Cost Technician (Project Controls)
Location: Merrillville (Hybrid)
Schedule: Hybrid – Monday & Friday remote, Tuesday–Thursday onsite (subject to change based on business needs)

Overview:
Our client is seeking a Cost Technician to support project cost control activities across multiple initiatives. This role will focus on validating invoices and timesheets, ensuring accurate cost allocation, and supporting reporting and analysis efforts.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, experience working with financial data, and the ability to support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Invoice Validation & Processing
- Review and validate vendor invoices against Purchase Orders (POs) and governing documents
- Confirm scope of work, cost structure, allowable rates, and applicable Work Orders (WOs)
- Ensure accurate cost allocation using Work Orders, Commodity Codes, and supporting data
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in invoices or documentation
- Route validated invoices through approval workflows (Ariba or similar systems)
Timesheet Validation & Processing
- Review and validate contractor timesheets for compliance with PO terms and agreements
- Confirm rates, units, and proper allocation to Work Orders
- Ensure accurate documentation for invoicing and cost tracking
- Enter and maintain timesheet data within internal systems
- Troubleshoot discrepancies and resolve issues as needed
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate standard and ad-hoc reports related to project costs, contractor performance, and financial metrics
- Support project analysis, forecasting, and internal reporting needs
- Assist with audit preparation and internal reviews
Additional Support
- Communicate findings, issues, and updates to the Project Controls Manager and cross-functional teams
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- 3 years of experience in cost tracking, project controls, accounting, or a related field
- Experience with invoice and/or timesheet validation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
- Experience working with Purchase Orders, Work Orders, or similar systems
- Strong Excel and reporting skills preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Ariba or similar systems
- Background in utilities, energy, or large project environments
Education:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education preferred
Salary : $33 - $43
