Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer will support a wide range of business initiatives across both new and existing locations. This person will use a broad set of technologies and tools to build intelligent infrastructure, drive scalable automation, and manage centralized networking, server, and cloud environments. They will be relentlessly focused on improving network delivery, strengthening monitoring capabilities, and advancing automation across the environment.

The company is located in New York, NY and will remain 100% local. The candidate needs to be in the area to come into office when needed.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Design, implement, and maintain network architectures for a multi-tenant enterprise environment supporting both corporate and customer-facing services.
• Partner with internal and external teams to automate client provisioning and other routine operational tasks.
• Contribute to projects that improve network reliability and performance, including code upgrades, hardware refreshes, and network/server application enhancements.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure production environments run reliably and efficiently.
• Build, maintain, and continuously enhance a network automation platform.
• Build, maintain, and optimize cloud and server-based compute platforms leveraging virtualization, Kubernetes, and containerization.
• Maintain and improve an AWS-based cloud networking environment.
• Proactively monitor network health across all locations, identify risks, and implement solutions before issues impact users.
• Support day-to-day network operations as needed, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Challenge existing approaches, drive innovation, and avoid complacency.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to determine the best fit for the environment.
• Identify, document, and implement process improvements across network operations.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating enterprise-scale networks.
• Deep understanding of core networking concepts, including Layer 2/3 routing protocols, multi-site VPNs, WiFi networks, and cloud networking for enterprise WAN architectures.
• Background in hosted services environments covering infrastructure networks, hardware, software, and telecommunications.
• Hands-on experience with Juniper JunOS (SRX, EX, QFX). Experience with Cisco IOS and ASA is a plus.
• Proficiency with multicast technologies such as IGMP and PIM.
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining WAN architectures using technologies such as SD-WAN, MPLS, VPLS, and L2L VPN tunnels.
• Strong troubleshooting experience with wireless networks, including knowledge of modern WiFi standards, RADIUS, and AAA accounting.
• Solid grounding in network design concepts, including WAN architecture, network security engineering principles, and systems design.
• Experience building and supporting KVM-based virtual environments.
• Demonstrated passion for optimization and designing scalable network architectures.
• Experience with Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
