One of the largest global cloud consulting firms supporting state-level IT modernization efforts for transportation infrastructure. This position is a long-term contract opportunity focused on application and infrastructure modernization across Arizona's transportation systems.
Technology: Azure DevOps, PowerShell/Python, production environment support, automation, and infrastructure management.
This role offers the chance to be a technical leader driving modernization for Arizona's transportation technology backbone-platforms that power everything from DMV systems to field operations. You'll oversee a small core team (3-5 direct reports) while serving as a strategic voice across a 10-15 person infrastructure group. This position blends hands-on technical work and leadership, giving you the opportunity to build deployment pipelines, manage production systems, and influence cross-state expansion as other transportation departments adopt the platform.
You'll gain visibility with both technical and state-level stakeholders, play a key part in scaling infrastructure operations to new states like Wyoming and Virginia, and contribute to a nationally expanding digital transformation effort.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong background supporting and maintaining production environments with high uptime requirements
- Deep understanding of the OSI model (Layer 3-7 troubleshooting)
- Proven experience with automation and scripting (Python or PowerShell)
- Proficiency managing Azure DevOps Server/Services-Boards, Repos, Pipelines (YAML preferred), and Artifacts
- Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD pipeline deployment
Desired Skills & Experience
- Prior experience in cloud infrastructure modernization or site reliability engineering
- Ability to manage and mentor a small technical team
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with state-level stakeholders
- Background in consulting or public-sector environments
