Position Overview:

MCRI is looking for an innovative individual to join our team as an Automation Technician/Electrician. This position is responsible for building and wiring custom industrial automation equipment at the MCRI facility as well as at customer locations throughout North America and abroad. For qualified candidates, training opportunities include on-the-job training, tuition payment for courses related to your position and/or a degree, and onsite or internet-based training from the leading provider of robots, FANUC America.

As a core member of the assembly team, you will work together as a team to install conveyors, framework, robots, tooling and guarding. The successful candidate will work closely with MCRI’s Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Programmers, Project Managers and customers to develop custom robotic solutions that keep the manufacturing industry competitive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

➢ Read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings.

➢ Install conveyors, framework, robots, tooling, and guarding.

➢ Build wire back panels for electrical cabinets.

➢ Install and wire conveyor motors, junction boxes, sensors, stack lights and light curtains.

➢ Design and build mounting brackets for electrical junctions, wireway, switches, sensors, and valve manifolds.

➢ Support engineering, manufacturing, and programming departments in testing and debugging equipment.

➢ Perform basic robot repairs including preventative maintenance, replacement of wiring harnesses, gearboxes as well as basic functions of jogging the robot.

➢ Work hours and overtime on an as needed basis, involving extra hours during the week,

Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays and Holidays.

➢ Possess personal organizational skills, follow company safety and assembly procedures, maintain assembly documentation in a proper manner and accurate time entry.

➢ Work well in a team, with your supervisor, internal departments, contractors and customer personnel to complete common goals and meet deadlines.

➢ Must be punctual, safety conscious, willing to learn, have a good attitude, and maintain a professional appearance.

Requirements:

➢ Preferred: Associate’s Degree in electrical or a related field 1-2 years mechanical assembly and electrical experience. Must have a high school diploma or GED.

➢ Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable ability to commute to work, and the ability to travel for multiple days to customer sites for installs, repairs, and service work.

➢ Travel is required 35% - 50% of the time; paid for by the company.

➢ Must have own tools and an ability to utilize a variety of machine shop power tools.

➢ Must have the ability to regularly lift 30-50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.

➢ Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, kneel, climb, push, pull, walk, sit, etc. Must be able to work in warm temperatures during the summer season.

➢ Must regularly possess manual dexterity of hands and fingers to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.

Preferred Requirements:

➢ Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in machine assembly, pneumatics, basic welding, basic machining, fabrication, and wiring.

➢ Basic computer operation and software knowledge.

➢ Intermediate math skills, and high-level reasoning skills.

➢ Excellent ability to communicate with co-workers, customers, vendors, etc. both verbally and written.

Job Type: Full-time, on-site in Fremont, Ohio, with required travel to customer sites.

Pay: Hourly Range $19.00 - $29.00, plus $3.00 extra/hr. regular - $4.50 extra/hr. overtime travel incentive when traveling greater than 50 miles away.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour day shift, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 5:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime during the week or on weekends.

When traveling to customer sites, weekends may be required to complete a job.

Experience:

  • Assembly: 1-2 years (Preferred)
  • Power tools: 1-2 years (Preferred)
  • Electrical: 1-2 years (Required)

Work Location:

In person, on-site in Fremont, OH, or a customer’s location.

Pay: $19.00 - $29.00 per hour
