Shop Manager — Electric Motor Repair & Reconditioning

As Shop Manager, you'll lead our team of motor mechanics and preppers at our Toledo, OH facility, overseeing the inspection, repair, assembly, and reconditioning of AC/DC electric motors for customers across the country. You'll set daily priorities, drive quality, develop your people, and lead the continuous improvement initiatives that keep Romanoff a cut above.

What You'll Do
Lead the Shop Team
- Directly supervise electric motor mechanics and preppers scheduling daily activities, setting clear priorities, and driving throughput to meet order deadlines.
- Train, develop, and monitor performance for both current and new shop employees, building a team that takes pride in quality workmanship.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement on the shop floor every day.
Own Quality & Operations
- Conduct regular quality checks on every job from incoming inspection through final reconditioning to uphold Romanoff's stringent certification standards.
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of AC/DC electric motor principles to support your team and make sound technical calls.
- Oversee all outside vendor services related to motor testing and repair, ensuring third-party work meets Romanoff's standards.
- Notify appropriate personnel when shop maintenance or equipment repairs are needed; keep the shop organized, clean, and running efficiently.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Lead CI initiatives planned in coordination with the Operations Manager identifying inefficiencies, implementing solutions, and tracking results.
- Apply lean, Six Sigma, or world-class manufacturing principles to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase shop capacity.
- Complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately and on time.
What We're Looking For
Must Have:
- Prior supervisory experience in a shop, manufacturing, or industrial repair environment you've led a team and held them accountable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a genuine interest in becoming an expert in electric motor repair and reconditioning.
- Excellent communication and people skills able to motivate, coach, and give clear direction to employees at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and keep a fast-moving shop on schedule without sacrificing quality.
- Associate's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Nice to Have:
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or world-class manufacturing principles.
- Experience in electric motor repair, reconditioning, or a related electromechanical environment.
- Familiarity with AC/DC motor principles, motor testing equipment, or reconditioning processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
