Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School is the regional school for the parishes of
Nativity BVM, Media and St. John Chrysostom, Wallingford. The school is located on the
grounds of St. John Chrysostom Parish. MPRCS has an enrollment of 275 students in
grades PreK through 8 and operates on a $2.3M expense budget.
Job Title: School Business Manager
This is an exempt level position reporting to the school principal. The position is for
an approximate forty-hour work week year-round, plus quarterly evening meetings
with the Finance Committee, the Board of Limited Jurisdiction(BOLJ), and other
committees as necessary.
JOB SUMMARY: The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial
functions of the school, including budgeting, accounting, and human resources.
The successful candidate will collaborate with school administration and the Board of
Limited Jurisdiction to prepare annual budgets and provide strategic financial
guidance. Primary responsibilities include reviewing school accounts using the
QuickBooks Ledger, working with the bookkeeper to process payments and manage
deposits, and preparing financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
The role also encompasses processing bi-weekly payroll, coordinating new hire
paperwork, processing employee pay and benefits changes, and serving as a liaison
between Diocesan HR and school employees.
Additional duties include managing the FACTS tuition database and collections,
maintaining confidential personnel and family records, preparing monthly bank
reconcilements, and providing administrative support for insurance, safety, facilities
and legal matters.
Professional Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting,
Finance and/or a related field with three or more years of successful
experience
Must have working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and
practices.
Experience in financial management, preferably in a school or nonprofit
setting.
Proficient with QuickBooks, Excel and PowerPoint
