Duties
- Operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated, flatbed, and tanker trucks, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure on-time deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) routes
- Load and unload freight safely using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo securing and compliance with logistics cargo handling standards
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and compliance records in line with FMCSA and DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and clients to coordinate deliveries and resolve any route or cargo issues
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or other specialized loads as applicable
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving in various environments
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation methods
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazard materials regulations, DOT regulations, and safety standards for truck loading/unloading
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks safely
- Strong navigation skills using GPS systems for efficient route planning on OTR routes
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with all federal and state transportation laws
