Most Holy Trinity Catholic School, a vibrant Catholic elementary school rooted in faith and academic excellence, seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a part-time Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Teacher. This role offers a unique opportunity to nurture the spiritual lives of our youngest students (Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade) through the Montessori-based Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sessions for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade, following the principles and methodology of the program.
- Prepare and maintain the atrium environment, ensuring it is a prayerful and developmentally appropriate space that fosters the child's relationship with God.
- Present key biblical narratives and liturgical themes using Montessori materials in a hands-on and experiential manner.
- Guide children in their exploration of the prepared environment, respecting their individual pace and needs.
- Foster a contemplative atmosphere that encourages wonder, reflection, and a personal encounter with Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
- Collaborate with the school administration, classroom teachers, and other staff members to integrate the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd into the broader life of the school.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's spiritual growth and engagement in the atrium.
- Participate in ongoing formation and professional development related to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the atrium.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- A deep and active Catholic faith, with a commitment to the teachings of the Church.
- Level I Catechesis of the Good Shepherd formation is required. Level II formation is preferred, or a willingness to obtain it.
- Experience working with young children in a religious education or Montessori setting is highly desirable.
- An understanding of child development and the spiritual capacities of young children.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
