- Assist the head coach in developing and implementing practice plans and game strategies.
- Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes in skill development, techniques, and game rules.
- Help organize and conduct team practices, drills, and conditioning sessions.
- Support the head coach in game day preparations, including equipment management and player assignments.
- Monitor the academic and athletic progress of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with school and athletic regulations.
- Foster a positive team culture, encouraging sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the cross country program.
- Attend coaching staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cross country techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to the season.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the cross country season.
