What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations & Fulfillment Assistant – Moss & Horticulture position at Moss & Stone Gardens?
Operations & Fulfillment Assistant – Moss & Horticulture
Moss & Stone Gardens is a growing company looking for a motivated, hands-on Operations & Fulfillment Assistant to support our fast-paced daily operations.
While we work with live moss and horticultural products, this is currently much more of an operations, fulfillment, and production role than a traditional gardening or nursery position. Most days are spent indoors at our warehouse preparing orders, packaging moss, organizing inventory, maintaining workspaces, and helping us improve the systems that keep a growing small business moving.
This role is a strong fit for someone who likes to stay busy, work efficiently, move between tasks, and take ownership of getting things done.
Responsibilities
- Pack and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Process, sort, clean, and handle live moss and horticultural products
- Keep pace with daily shipping and fulfillment needs
- Organize inventory, supplies, tools, and work areas
- Maintain clean and efficient warehouse workspaces
- Learn our moss species, products, and basic plant-care requirements
- Follow established processes while helping identify ways to improve them
- Assist with receiving shipments, restocking, and production tasks
- Support occasional installations, nursery work, and other hands-on projects as needed
- Shift between tasks and priorities as the needs of a growing company change
You May Be a Great Fit If You Are
- Fast-moving and productive — you enjoy getting through a full day of hands-on work
- Able to work independently once trained
- Comfortable asking questions when instructions are unclear
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent
- Organized and attentive to detail without sacrificing pace
- Comfortable with repetitive physical tasks, lifting, standing, bending, and working with your hands
- Someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative
- Comfortable working in a small company where priorities can change quickly
- Interested in plants, sustainability, entrepreneurship, or learning how a growing business operates
Experience
Previous horticulture experience is not required.
Experience in warehouse operations, order fulfillment, shipping, production, retail stocking, food service, landscaping, construction, farming, or another fast-paced hands-on environment can all translate well to this role.
We care more about work ethic, pace, reliability, curiosity, and initiative than having a perfectly aligned resume.
What This Role Is — and Isn't
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in working with a unique horticultural product while learning how a growing company operates.
However, applicants should understand that this is not currently a traditional gardening, greenhouse, or plant-care position. Our nursery operations are growing, but the immediate need is someone who can become a strong part of our warehouse and fulfillment operation.
Growth Opportunity
Moss & Stone Gardens is a young company growing quickly. As the company expands, there will be opportunities for strong team members to take on additional responsibility in areas such as operations, production, nursery management, installations, inventory, and team leadership.
We want people who are excited to grow alongside the company.
