What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media & Content Manager position at MOSS Designer Consignment?
About MOSS
MOSS is a designer consignment boutique offering carefully curated secondhand luxury and contemporary fashion. We believe sustainable style should feel elevated, not sacrificed — and our social media presence should reflect that.
Role Overview
This role requires an obsession with fashion, luxury designers, and styling.
The Social Media Manager is part-time role that owns MOSS’s digital brand voice across Instagram and web-adjacent channels. This is an in-store, hands-on role — you’ll be on the floor photographing new arrivals, engaging with customers, and capturing the energy of the boutique in real time. You’re equal parts content creator, community builder, and sales driver.
We are looking for someone creative, proactive, personable, and comfortable being both behind and occasionally in front of the camera.
Schedule & Location Requirements
- In-store presence: Austin location 3–5 days per week (15–20 hours)
- San Antonio: One trip per month (or as needed) to support SA staff with content capture and strategy
- This is not a remote-only role — physical presence in the Austin store is essential to the job
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel independently between Austin and San Antonio as needed are required
Weekly Content Commitment
7 posts per week, scheduled with captions, broken down as follows:
4–5 In-Store / Product Posts
- New arrivals, styled flat lays, fitting room content, and “just dropped” features
- Mix of Reels, static images, and carousels depending on the piece and story
- New inventory photographed for Stories daily — this is a non-negotiable part of the in-store routine
2–3 Brand & Cultural Posts
- Educational content on sustainable fashion, resale impact, or circular style
- Cultural moment tie-ins: Paris Fashion Week, NYFW, Met Gala, trend forecasting, fashion history, etc.
- Style inspiration, moodboards, or editorial content aligned with Moss’s aesthetic
Weekly “Consign With Us” Post
- One post per week dedicated to consignor recruitment
- Showcase the consignment experience, accepted brands, process, and benefits
- Captions should speak directly to potential consignors and drive DM inquiries or link clicks
Core Responsibilities
Content Creation & Publishing
- Build and manage a monthly content calendar with the weekly breakdown above
- Shoot, edit, and publish all content — Reels, Stories, carousels, and static posts
- Photograph new inventory for Stories daily while in the Austin store
- Maintain Moss’s elevated, editorial brand aesthetic across all content
Creative Collaboration
- Partner with Moss’s in-house photographer and Creative Director on editorial shoots and campaign content
- Coordinate on video capture, shot lists, and visual direction for higher-production content
- Act as the bridge between creative vision and day-to-day social execution
Community Management (In-Store & Online)
- Monitor and respond to all comments and DMs while in store — same-day response is the standard
- Engage with followers, answer product questions, and drive DM-to-sale conversions
- Maintain Moss’s brand voice in every interaction: warm, knowledgeable, and confident
Sales & Inventory Integration
- Coordinate with store managers to feature new drops and high-value pieces quickly
- Tag products and link to the web store to support online sales
- Track which content drives inquiries, saves, and web traffic
Analytics & Reporting
- Deliver a simple weekly social snapshot to ownership (reach, engagement, DMs, top posts)
- Make recommendations — not just observations — based on what’s working
Qualifications
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and can balance creativity with consistency and execution.
- 2 years of social media management experience in fashion, retail, or lifestyle
- Strong eye for styling, composition, and brand-consistent photography
- Comfortable shooting and editing Reels (CapCut, InShot, or similar)
- Familiar with Instagram’s algorithm, shopping features, and scheduling tools (Later, Planoly, etc.)
- Able to work independently, stay on top of a weekly content cadence, and self-manage without reminders
- Genuine obsession with fashion, luxury brands, and contemporary style — this is not a nice-to-have
- Bonus: experience in consignment, resale, or fashion retail
Physical and Technical Requirements
- Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced retail environment
- Ability to stand, move throughout the store, and handle clothing racks and inventory as needed
- Comfortable using iPhone content tools, social media platforms, and scheduling/editing apps
- Ability to occasionally lift and move boxes or merchandise up to 25 lbs
Compensation
$25 per hour. Part-time hourly structure.
Perks & Benefits
- Employee clothing discount on in-store inventory
- Consignment credits to put toward designer pieces
- First access to new arrivals before they hit the floor
- Performance-based bonuses tied to social growth and consignment inquiry goals
- 401-k
