Position Summary:
The Managing Attorney oversees firm operations, supervises attorneys and staff, manages case strategy, and ensures quality, compliance, and client satisfaction. This role has both a billable component and a leadership/operational component. Responsibilities include case oversight, courtroom representation, operational decision-making, strategic planning, and contributing to Firm growth.
Essential Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of case strategy, legal analysis, and representation.
- Supervise Associate Attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Review and approve pleadings, motions, declarations, and correspondence.
- Manage complex litigation, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Ensure compliance with ethical obligations, deadlines, billing requirements, and Firm policies.
- Conduct client consultations, maintain client relationships, and address escalated client concerns.
- Monitor caseload distribution to ensure efficiency and workload balance.
- Develop and maintain Firm legal standards, templates, processes, and quality controls.
- Perform legal research and oversee research performed by team members.
- Participate in networking, community engagement, and Firm‑wide business development.
- Collaborate with ownership on Firm strategy, hiring, training, and workflow optimization.
- Devote appropriate billable hours each week while balancing Firm leadership responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
The billable requirements for this position are as follows:
1st month with the Firm = 10 hours billed per week
2nd month with the Firm = 15 hours billed per week
3rd month and beyond with the Firm = 20 hours billed per week
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Successfully graduated from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate.
- Currently licensed with the Arizona State Bar and In good standing.
- 5 years of legal practice; litigation or family law experience preferred.
- Experience managing cases independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and legal research tools such as WestLaw.
- Superior writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
- High emotional Intelligence, professionalism, and ethical judgement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and complex client matters.
- Attention to detail and the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
