Responsibilities include compound production, team supervision, quality assurance, order fulfillment, workflow oversight, and assuring the pharmacy's full compliance with our Standard Operating Procedures, federal and state regulations. You will assist in our internal efforts to improve our work process and use of technologies. You should have knowledge of compound formulations, drug interactions, and current best-practices in non-sterile and sterile compounding. You'll have an opportunity to work with and contribute in new formulation development, so your communication and collaborations skills must be outstanding.

Job Summary:
The Staff Clinical Compounding Pharmacist will receive general guidance and direction from the Pharmacist in Charge. This role will involve drug utilization review, ensuring the proper and safe storage of drugs and devices, patient counseling, providing clinical recommendations to prescribers and the maintenance of records of drugs and devices. The key function of this role is processing prescriptions with a keen focus on providing service excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain professional knowledge, skills, and competence in areas of responsibility
- Identify opportunities for improvements in pharmacy systems related to unique needs of identified health conditions
- Appropriately intervene for drug allergies, potential drug interactions, and duplication of therapy 100% of the time, as documented in patient medication profile.
· Review and interpret prescriptions, compounds and accurately dispense medication, while maintaining efficient workflow to provide timely delivery
- Entry of new prescription and refill data into computerized pharmacy system (PK) as required by law.
- Review patient profile to assure patient compliance, check allergies and concomitant drug therapies to evaluate risk of drug-drug interactions as well as drug-disease state interactions.
- Consult with physicians regarding any risk to patient resulting from drug-drug interactions, drug-disease interactions, non-compliance, or inappropriate medication therapy.
- Provide patient counseling on all new prescriptions and as deemed necessary on prescription refills.
- Take prescriptions orders over the phone directly from physicians and nurses as well as aid technician in phoning physicians for refills.
- Ensure patient confidentiality during filling and counseling on all medications.
- Check all prescriptions dispensed for accuracy and pricing.
- Possess thorough knowledge of pharmacy billing procedures for third-party electronic submissions.
- Attend pharmacy staff meetings
- Participate in establishment of new policies and procedures for Pharmacy Department
- Cooperate with others within the Pharmacy Department to initiate change as necessary
- Cooperate with other departments to initiate change as requested as necessary
- Regularly monitors inventory levels and initiates drug returns.
- Maintain confidentiality of position and inherent information as appropriate
- Effectively provide clinical assessment for patient medication needs and provide appropriate recommendations to health care professional and/or patient
- Effectively communicate to patients the recommendation of drug regimen for all prescriptions
- Overseeing and supervising pharmacy technicians and interns in the absence of the Pharmacist in Charge
- Provide drug information to patients and health care professionals as requested
- Complies with Board of Pharmacy and DEA Regulations and all other regulations and laws governing the practice of pharmacy.
- Abide by all OSHA, HIPAA, and SC State Regulations concerning Sterile Products and Extemporaneous compounding
- Follows existing procedures governing compounding processes as defined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Identifies own learning needs and initiates steps to improve knowledge in areas of weakness.
- Promoting and marketing compounding medication therapeutic options to patients and prescribers when the opportunity arises and clinically appropriate.
Qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
· B.S. or Pharm.D. degree
· 1-2 years experience in clinical or retail pharmacy practice is preferred (but not required)
· 1 year experience in compounding pharmacy practice is preferred (but not required)
· Sterile compounding training preferred (but not required)
· Licensed and in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy; Licensure in South Carolina
· Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
· Self-directed with the excellent time management skills and able to work independently
· Strong organizational skills necessary to plan and coordinate daily operational activities
· Ability to communicate with all levels of health care professionals
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy filling prescriptions
Job Types: Part-time (20-32hrs/week)
Pay: From $58.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
