Responsibilities
- Court Rules, Calendaring, and Compliance
- Review documents before service and filing to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local court rules, as well as judges' individual practices.
- Synchronize deadlines and events to attorneys' Outlook calendars.
- Serve as a resource for attorneys and staff on state and federal rules, procedures, and practices.
- Research court rules, calculate deadlines, and enter them into CourtAlert Case Management.
- Electronic and Physical Filings
- Handle e-filing and service of documents in multiple jurisdictions.
- Docketing System Administration
- Track court dockets (via CM/ECF and other platforms) for decisions, opinions, and developments in pending matters.
- Supervision, Training, and Vendor Management
- Risk Management and Quality Assurance
- Matter Intake and Case Monitoring
- Sealing, Redaction, and Confidentiality
- Appellate and Specialized Proceedings
- Coordinate with the Managing Attorney on daily filings and assignments.
- Arrange and monitor reliable, cost-effective service of process.
- Liaise with court personnel and assist with court admissions and renewals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a law firm managing clerk or docketing role, Litigation paralegal or equivalent court clerk experience with multi-jurisdiction exposure.
- Deep knowledge of federal and state court rules, local rules, judge-specific practices, e-filing systems, and service of process requirements including CM/ECF, PACER, and state-specific e-filing systems (e.g., NYSCEF).
- Demonstrated mastery of docketing/case management software and calendaring systems, proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational discipline, and written/verbal
- A strong understanding of litigation workflows and the ability to lead teams through deadline-driven environments communication skills.
- Sound judgment in assessing procedural risk, escalating issues, and coordinating solutions across case teams.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, paralegal certificate or equivalent procedural training a plus.
Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
