Meat Associate

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Meat Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service and retail, with experience in food handling, customer service, and sales. This role involves assisting customers with their meat selections, ensuring proper food safety and sanitation standards, and supporting overall store operations. The Meat Associate plays a vital role in providing excellent service and maintaining the quality of our products in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Assist customers in selecting meats and related products, offering knowledgeable recommendations and upselling when appropriate
• Prepare and package meat products according to safety standards and store procedures
• Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the meat department, including proper food handling and storage practices
• Restock displays, organize products, and ensure proper labeling for easy customer access
• Support food preparation tasks, including trimming, slicing, or portioning meats as needed
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards at all times
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, assisting with product selection, and ensuring a positive shopping experience
• Assist with bussing, cleaning, and general maintenance of the department to uphold hygiene standards

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, retail grocery, or restaurant environment preferred; culinary or kitchen experience is a plus
• Knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is advantageous
• Strong understanding of food safety protocols and sanitation procedures in the food industry
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse customers
• Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and measuring ingredients or portions
• Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
• Experience with food preparation techniques related to meats is desirable
• Familiarity with cashiering, upselling, and sales techniques to enhance customer experience
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a team in a retail or quick service environment
