What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Accountant position at Mosel & Ginn, PLLC?
Taxes are stressful for everyone but us. At Mosel & Ginn, we've built our whole firm around one idea: create a less taxing world for our clients and for our team. If you're a tax professional who wants real ownership of your work, a firm that's actually investing in AI and better tools instead of just talking about it, and a team that keeps its sense of humor during busy season, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
- Prepare individual, business, partnership, and trust tax returns, plus tax planning projections, under the direction of our CPAs.
- Keep pace with our firm's tax season schedule and workflow, not just the deadlines on the calendar.
- Research and resolve tricky tax issues and client notices, and document your work clearly.
- Be the responsive, professional point of contact clients can count on, and flag planning opportunities as you spot them.
- Collaborate with our CPAs and team on reviews, deadlines, bookkeeping, payroll, and month-end close.
- Dig into the AI tools and technology we're rolling out. We want people who get curious about new tools, not people who wait to be told.
- Pitch in on special projects and litigation support when the work calls for it.
What You Bring
- 2 years preparing tax returns in public accounting or a tax service firm (5 years and a CPA/EA are a strong plus for senior-level consideration).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
- Comfortable with QuickBooks, tax software, and Excel; bookkeeping experience is a plus.
- Sharp attention to detail and a real problem-solving streak.
- A genuine willingness to learn and use new technology, including AI-assisted tools.
- Can work independently and as part of a team, and communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
- A Texas CPA license, EA credential, or active progress toward one is a plus. Not required.
Why Mosel & Ginn
We hold ourselves to three things: Professional Humility (we're coachable and we actually listen to our clients), Gracious Tenacity (we tackle hard problems and keep our sense of humor doing it), and Battle Tested (we take on the hard work, including litigation support, that most firms shy away from). You'll be part of a team that means it.
