Special Education Teacher (Full-Time)

Position Description:

Moscow Charter School is seeking a collaborative and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students in grades K–8. This position provides specially designed instruction, case management, and collaborative support to ensure students with disabilities receive access to a high-quality education.

Moscow Charter School follows an inclusive model of special education. Students are educated in the least restrictive environment appropriate to their individual needs, with accommodations, modifications, interventions, and specialized instruction provided through collaboration between special education and classroom teachers. The Special Education Teacher partners with students, families, teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration to support student growth, access to learning, and successful outcomes.

Typical Schedule: Full-time, school-year position following the Moscow Charter School academic calendar. Typical work day hours are approximately:

Monday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Tuesday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Friday: 8:00 am - 2:30 pm

Schedule includes designated planning/preparation time consistent with school expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide specially designed instruction and support services for students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices, accommodations, modifications, and student success.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and revise IEPs in accordance with federal and state requirements.
• Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and inform instruction.
• Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families and educational team members.
• Serve as case manager for assigned students, ensuring timely completion of IEP development, evaluations, progress reporting, meetings, and required documentation.
• Support classroom teachers in understanding and implementing student accommodations and modifications.
• Provide direction, communication, and collaboration with paraprofessionals supporting students with disabilities, consistent with school procedures and applicable supervision requirements.
• Coordinate with intervention, support, and student services teams as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to special education services.
• Support positive behavior, social-emotional development, and student independence.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable special education laws, regulations, and school policies.
• Assist in completing required documentation for Medicaid-eligible school-based services, as applicable.
• Participate as an active member of the Moscow Charter School community.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

• Valid Idaho teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement or ability to obtain appropriate certification.
• Knowledge of special education processes, including IEP development, progress monitoring, accommodations, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, and support staff.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all students.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience supporting students in an inclusive K–8 educational setting.
• Experience collaborating with general education teachers and paraprofessionals.
• Experience with IEP management systems (such as EdPlan).
• Experience with behavior supports, intervention systems, or MTSS.
• Experience supporting a range of student needs across elementary and middle school.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary is determined according to the Idaho Career Ladder for certificated educators and is based on education level, experience, and placement on the applicable salary schedule.
