(MSSI) provides 24/7 residential care to kids with intellectual/developmental disabilities, who benefit from support with possible: emotional self-regulation challenges, anger management, development of self-regulation skills, the formation and maintenance of healthy relationships, compliance with probation/diversion plans and/or substance abuse prevention, medication management, health care, and/or access to mental health services.Our residential group home is a specialized behavioral home that empowers staff with the knowledge and supports necessary to continuously improve, grow, and assist residents in leading quality lives—based on their own definitions and interests.We are looking for passionate, creative, and dependable people who are self-motivated and want to have positive impacts on our youth and community!There are advancement opportunities available to ensure your growth with us. We require ample amounts of training before entering the home and a certification required within the first three months, with ongoing training to ensure yours and resident’s safety. We also provide supervision from an intelligent, strong, and adaptable administration team here to support and who have great communication.We are located in Santa Cruz and our team is a professional but fun-bunch dedicated to improving lives!6-months direct services experience is mandatory, please see below for more details.Requirements:Qualifications:Be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to obtain Criminal Record Clearance and Department of Justice (DOJ)/FBI/CACI fingerprint clearancePre-employment physical exam with medical clearance by a physician (including negative TB test or x-ray result)Ability to lift 40 poundsAbility to walk significant distances (e.g. 2 miles)Proficient in reading and writing in EnglishAbility to meet both Title 17 (Regional Center/Department of Developmental Disabilities) and Title 22 (Community Care Licensing) requirementsMinimum Driving Experience: For drivers, must have a valid CA driver’s license, be over 23, provide current registration and insurance, and meet insurability requirements of insurance carrierEducation/Experience:Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GEDMinimum Experience: At least six months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities, with a focus on behavioral servicesSupervision may be available for those pursuing BSW, LCSW, BCaBA, and/or BCBA certification!Skills:CPR/First AidDirect Support Professional (DSP) 1 & 2 within the first year of employmentProAct and Ukeru certification within first two weeks and ability to participate in emergency interventions during situations involving imminent dangerRegistered Behavior Technician within 90 days (includes 40-hour training, passing of hands-on competency assessment, and passing of written exam)Ongoing training and supervision (one 3 hour paid session per month outside of the typical schedule)Ability to maintain positivity in stressful situation and see the glass as half-fullJob DutiesProvide intervention, direct care, training and supervision to residents in a specialized residential setting as outlined in each Individual Behavior Supports Plan (IBSP) and Individual Program Plan (IPP)Provide support to kids with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges with any of the following: implementation of daily routines, cooking, activities of daily living, hygiene tasks, recreational fun, social skills, communication, medical/health appointments and tasks, leisurely activities, household chores, reduction of possibly intense unsafe/interfering behaviors, increase of replacement skills, and exploration of interests, passions, and hobbies, etc. (and do it all with a smile)Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team and assist in the ongoing daily delivery of interventions and skills training (this may include walking for long distances (eg 2 miles, brief jogging, and participating in emergency intervention procedures)Implement interventions designed by a multidisciplinary team within the realms of function-based, positive behavioral supports and mental health supports!Provide for the physical care, training, continuous supervision and recreation of residentsAssist clients with prescribed medications, while maintaining required documentation and complying with agency policies and procedureProvide assistance with housekeeping and chores; utilize infection prevention standards and procedures as well as adherence to universal precautionsOngoing written documentation and collection of dataCollaborate professionally with residents, colleagues, consultants, other agencies, families, social workers, and professionals involved in residential treatmentJob descriptions are subject to change without notice based on the needs of the agency.
