Kids Care Worker
Part-Time Position Description
A Mosaic Kids Care worker will provide safe, secure and nurturing care to children as well as
facilitate activities. A Kids Care worker will need to be flexible to care for kids that range in age
from babies through 5th grade. They will support Mosaic ministries by providing childcare on
Wednesday and Sunday evenings. There will also be opportunities to provide childcare for
special events that could occur on other days of the week. A Kids Care worker will be asked to
work a minimum of twice a month to remain on the payroll. Kids Care employees work under the
direction of the family ministry director and family ministry coordinator.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing
diapers, escorting to the restroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding, or sitting
with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, and play. APT
precautions should always be used while changing diapers or time of body fluids.
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and other workers.
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to the meeting time. The opportunity for additional work will be
announced at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
- Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child’s security
tag.
- Straighten the room and clean any toys before leaving.
- Report to the family ministry coordinator any issues which are hindering the carry out of
the duties or responsibilities.
- Communicate in advance, by phone to the family ministry coordinator: 1) any planned
absences with an advance two week notice, or 2) any unplanned absences at least two
hours prior to the shift.
Qualifications:
- Experience in caring for children with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of
personalities.
- Stability of physical, mental and emotional health
- Satisfactory completion of background check and drug screening
- Completion of APT Training
- Three references
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
Termination Policy:
- There will be a 90 day probationary period where either party may terminate employment
without cause. Beyond this a two week notice is expected.
- Dependability is essential. Tardiness and excessive absences cannot be tolerated and
will result in termination of employment. Immediate termination will occur in cases of
intentional verbal, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect of any child, parent, or church
member. Termination may occur for failure to carry out job duties as described above or
failure to comply with the “Gem City: All Protecting Together (APT) Policy”.
