Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve uptime by troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on low- to high-voltage electrical systems and equipment (including work in shaftways and other hard-to-access areas).
- Complete work documentation accurately and on time, including inspection sheets, timecards, work orders, and required reports.
- Use electrical schematics and computer-based maintenance systems (CMMS) to plan work, execute repairs, and close out assigned tasks.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and vendors to diagnose issues, communicate progress, and source/issue/restock parts and materials needed to complete work.
- Support mechanical repairs as directed and perform routine upkeep (greasing, cleaning, and inspecting stationary equipment).
- Work safely and keep areas clean and hazard-free; operate manual/automatic service hoist systems; coach others on safe electrical work practices; and complete additional related duties as assigned.
- Performs other related work as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and required equipment operation.
- Bring thorough knowledge of heavy industrial/mining electrical maintenance practices.
- Troubleshoot and maintain 3-phase systems and motor controls (480V and 4160V), including MCCs, mine power feeder circuits/ground monitors, PLCs, soft starts, schematics/ladder logic, and electrical calculations for new installations (wire sizing/motor HP)
- 2 years of industrial electrical experience.
- MSHA certification
- Work in underground and surface mine environments with variable temperatures and humidity; expect outdoor weather exposure, noise, and dust.
- Work areas are generally dry, but visibility may be limited—many locations rely on a cap lamp and/or equipment lighting.
- Navigate uneven, slick, and changing ground conditions (including floor heave and polished surfaces from mobile equipment traffic).
- Work safely around moving machinery and energized power cables, maintaining constant awareness of roof and rib conditions.
- Meet physical demands including prolonged standing, long-distance walking, and extended seated equipment operation with whole-body vibration; work at heights using a full-body harness; shovel/clean spillage and lift up to 5 feet; operate multiple hand/foot controls; lift up to 65 lbs; and climb ladders of 30 ft or more.
