Morton HR Group is conducting a search for a Pharmaceutical Buyer for a leading provider of emergency medical products to healthcare providers.
Our client is seeking a Pharmaceutical Buyer to play a critical role in sourcing and purchasing emergency medications and pharmaceutical products, helping ensure customers remain compliant and fully prepared for emergency situations.
This role requires hands-on experience buying pharmaceuticals and the ability to work in a regulated, fast-paced environment where supply availability is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
Pharmaceutical Purchasing
- Place and manage purchase orders for various medication categories
- Maintain consistent product availability across key medication categories
- Ensure compliance with applicable pharmaceutical purchasing requirements
Vendor Management
- Act as a point of contact for pharmaceutical suppliers and wholesalers
- Monitor vendor performance including fill rates, backorders, and delivery timelines
- Support pricing, terms, and vendor documentation
Supply Continuity & Sourcing
- Proactively research and identify alternative and secondary drug sources to prevent disruptions
- Manage shortages, allocations, and backorders by securing backup supply
- Make informed purchasing decisions in fast-changing or ambiguous supply conditions
Inventory & Issue Resolution
- Monitor inventory levels, usage trends, and lead times
- Resolve late deliveries, supply issues, and invoice discrepancies
- Coordinate expedited orders for critical medication needs
Reporting
- Track purchasing activity and vendor performance
- Maintain accurate records and support basic reporting
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of pharmaceutical or drug purchasing experience (required)
- Experience working with pharma distributors, wholesalers, or manufacturers
- Understanding of drug supply challenges (shortages, substitutions, allocations)
- Ability to research medications and identify equivalent products or alternative suppliers
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Excel and purchasing/ERP systems (Dynamics GP preferred)
This is a full-time role that requires hybrid availability (on-site 2-3 days per week on average)
