Job Title: Day Porter / Cleaning Specialist

Position Summary
The Day Porter / Cleaning Specialist is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of commercial, industrial, or residential facilities during operating hours. This role involves routine cleaning, responding to immediate maintenance and sanitation needs, and ensuring a welcoming environment for occupants and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize common areas, restrooms, offices, break rooms, and high-traffic spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
• Restock restroom and facility supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Monitor facility cleanliness throughout the day and address issues promptly.
• Respond to spills, accidents, and other cleaning emergencies.
• Clean windows, glass surfaces, doors, and entryways.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to management.
• Follow established cleaning procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools properly.
• Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
