Role Description The Processing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Troy, MI. This role oversees the end-to-end mortgage processing pipeline, ensuring files move efficiently from application through underwriting and closing while meeting quality, compliance, and turnaround time standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing and mentoring processing staff, assigning and monitoring workloads, reviewing loan files for completeness and accuracy, and resolving escalated issues with originators, underwriters, and borrowers. The Processing Manager collaborates closely with underwriting and finance teams to proactively address conditions, reduce errors, and improve approval rates. This role also involves refining processes, implementing best practices, tracking performance metrics, and supporting training initiatives to maintain a high-performing, service-oriented team.
Qualifications
- Strong Analytical Skills to review loan documentation, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with lending guidelines and regulations.
- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to interact professionally with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and internal teams, and to resolve issues clearly and promptly.
- Solid understanding of Finance and mortgage products, including familiarity with loan structures, fees, disclosures, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Underwriting processes, conditions, and documentation standards, with the ability to coordinate effectively with underwriting teams.
- Leadership and team management experience, including coaching, performance oversight, workload prioritization, and conflict resolution.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with mortgage LOS software, document management systems, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar tools).
- Previous experience in mortgage processing, operations, or a related mortgage-lending role preferred; supervisory or management experience strongly desired.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is a plus.
