Job Title: Application Engineer II
Position Overview
The Application Engineer II plays a critical role within Conversions, Modifications, and Uprates (CM&U) Services, supporting projects from initial customer inquiry through execution. This role spans both Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) and Order-to-Remittance (OTR) phases, delivering technically sound, customer-focused solutions that align with design standards, reliability requirements, and service excellence.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Design Engineering, Project Management, Field Services, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and external partners to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) / Application Engineering
- Provide technical expertise and develop optimized technical solutions (configuration, performance, economics) in support of customer inquiries.
- Analyze customer requirements and define scope, schedule, industrial approach, and cost estimates in alignment with contract terms and internal policies.
- Interpret customer needs and define parts scope of supply, providing inputs for cost and cycle time.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including development and maintenance of Technical Application Guidelines (TAGs).
Order Execution / Requisition Engineering
- Own the successful execution of engineering activities for assigned CM&U projects.
- Address and resolve technical issues that arise during project execution.
- Establish project structures using standardized tools and systems.
- Develop and manage engineering and drafting schedules using Enovia PLM, ensuring alignment with parts delivery, outages, and downstream activities.
- Manage engineering changes throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure timely demand placement for engineered parts.
- Author Field Modification Instructions (FMIs).
- Coordinate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Vendors, Service Shops, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules and engineering hours; proactively address deviations.
- Support global and domestic team members as required.
- Respond accurately and efficiently to technical inquiries using design data, prior reports, and subject matter expertise.
- Complete project closeout activities, capturing lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related science discipline, or equivalent experience.
Additional Eligibility
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis (less than 10%).
