Duties
- Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to develop precise estimates for structural steel components.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed cost proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project scope, clarify requirements, and negotiate pricing terms.
- Conduct site visits to assess construction conditions and gather on-site data to refine estimates.
- Manage cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules.
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including material quantities, labor costs, subcontractor quotes, and equipment needs.
- Review contracts and scope of work documents to identify potential risks and opportunities for value engineering.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on structural steel projects.
- Strong proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other construction estimating tools.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety standards, and project management principles.
- Knowledge of contracts, cost control strategies, and pricing methodologies within the construction industry.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Construction site experience is highly preferred to better understand on-the-ground realities that impact estimates.
