Morrow County Health District is recruiting for two temporary Home Health & Hospice Receptionist in Heppner, OR.  One opening is for part-time work, while the other is for full-time work.  These temporary positions are expected to last approximately 1-3 months.

About the Role:

The Reception/Front Desk position in a Home Health/Hospice care setting serves as the vital first point of contact for patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is essential in managing communications, scheduling appointments, and coordinating information flow between patients and clinical staff to support seamless care delivery. The individual in this position will handle administrative duties such as managing patient records, processing referrals, and assisting with billing inquiries, contributing to the operational efficiency of the home health agency. By maintaining accurate and confidential documentation, the receptionist supports compliance with healthcare regulations and quality standards. Ultimately, this role plays a key part in enhancing patient satisfaction and supporting the overall mission of providing compassionate, high-quality home health services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or front desk role, preferably within a healthcare or home health environment.
  • Proficiency in using office software such as Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Medical Office Administration or related field.
  • Experience with home health care procedures and terminology.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes specific to home health services.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the service area.
  • Training in customer service or patient relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and healthcare providers promptly and courteously, both in person and via telephone.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize care delivery and resource allocation.
  • Manage patient intake processes, including verifying insurance information and collecting necessary documentation.
  • Maintain and update patient records and databases accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail, and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with billing inquiries and coordinate with the billing department to resolve patient questions or issues.
  • Support administrative tasks such as inventory management of office supplies and maintaining a clean, organized front desk area.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to facilitate smooth communication and operational workflows.
