What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Assistant position at Morrisson-Reeves Library?
The hours for this part-time hourly position (24 hours a week): Monday through Thursday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, 2:00 pm to 6:00 and one Saturday every three weeks. No Sundays! The entry wage is $14.00 an hour.
We seek an individual who is passionate about youth, with experience in working with children. This 24-hour position serves as a paraprofessional, under the supervision of our Youth Services Librarian, providing services to our younger patrons and their caregivers. Responsibilities include public desk duties, shelving, shelf reading, and making reading recommendations with an emphasis on providing programming for school aged children.
Qualifications:
- Positive experience working with children.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Computer skills with some experience in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email and the Internet.
- Current driver license with good driving record.
- Must be 18 years or older
Skills: Ability to successfully interact and communicate with people of all ages; service oriented, self-motivated; perform job responsibilities with a high level of attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision; work well within a team; basic keyboarding skills and use of email and the Internet.
