STEM ASSISTANT Position

Morrison Mentors is seeking caring, patient, and enthusiastic students to join our team as STEM Assistants. This in‑person role supports classroom instruction by helping lead hands‑on activities, guiding students through creative projects, and fostering a positive learning environment where children feel confident, curious, and supported. We teach 3D printing, Coding, gaming design, virtual reality, E-agriculture and many more STEM based concepts 

If you’ve worked as a camp counselor, supported after‑school programs, helped children with art or craft projects, volunteered with youth groups, or simply enjoy being around young learners, your experience is highly valuable here. 

Expectations:

• You will receive hands‑on training in several STEM areas, including 3D printing, computer programming, computer hardware, Use of CNC machines, Use of Vinyl Printers, Use of solar technology, Drone Automation and other technology tools.

• After learning these skills, you will also be trained on how to teach the same concepts to K–12 students in a way that is fun, clear, and age‑appropriate.

• Once training is complete, you will work with a small team of three to five instructors to teach STEM lessons in our partner school districts and community organizations during the Summer

• We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, whether they are studying education, have technical skills, or have worked with youth before in any capacities such as tutoring, camp counseling, or volunteering.

Location:

250 Fulton Ave, Hempstead, NY.

All candidates are required to make the commute to our Hempstead location. A shuttle service is provided from the Hempstead location to our different partner sites across Long Island, NY.

Pay :

Base rate of $18–$22/hour; final compensation may be adjusted based on experience; Part Time (15-20hours per week)

Schedule

Part Time (15-20hours per week)

• Summer availability for at least 4 or 5 days from Monday to Friday from 8:am to 4pm

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist lead instructors in delivering engaging lessons and hands‑on activities 
• Support students during classroom projects, helping them stay engaged and confident 
• Prepare materials for daily activities, including crafts, group work, and learning centers 
• Maintain an organized, welcoming classroom environment 
• Provide guidance and encouragement to students 
• Communicate effectively with teachers and staff to support classroom routines
