Job Summary
The Accountant assumes responsibility for the accurate reporting of the hospital's financial results.
The Analyst is responsible for planning his/her workload to meet a variety of internal and external deadlines and is often called upon to quickly gather, organize and explain data.
Essential Functions
Performs accounting and financial functions, i.e, preparing designated journal entries and related account reconciliations, statistical and budgetary reporting.
Prepares audit work papers and must work with both internal and external auditors.
Fields questions from staff at all levels and researches the financial records and responds in a timely manner.
Prepares a variety of financial reports for a variety of customers: Administration, the Board of Directors, and internal and external auditors, meeting all deadlines.
Resolves data problems by interpreting information and recommending and implementing solutions. Properly records accounting and budget information for hospital.
Masters a variety of computer systems, including: Dairyland, Crystal Reports, and MS Office Suite.
Learns new computer applications quickly and operate in a variety of systems on a regular basis.
Produces accurate work with little oversight and minimal re-work.
Identifies opportunities to improve workflow and eliminate redundancies.
Implements change effectively.
Goes above and beyond individual job responsibilities in the interest of the department.
Works well with others at all levels of the organization.
Maintains confidentiality and demonstrate respect to all customers.
Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of Morrison Community Hospital.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Accounting degree preferred.
Minimum of two years of progressively more responsibility.
Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Must be capable of critical thinking and problem solving, with the ability to work independently.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be proficient with a calculator, PC (Excel experience a must), and be able to learn new computer applications quickly.
Demonstrates the ability to use a PC (especially Excel and Word), operate a calculator and continuously learn new computer programs.
Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
