    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Valid New Jersey LDTC Certificate is required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Oversee and participate in academic screening/assessment of academically at risk students upon entrance to the district when appropriate.
    • Provide preventive and support services to students with disabilities.
    • Provide services to the general education staff regarding techniques, materials and programs for students experiencing difficulties in learning.
    • Prepare educational evaluation reports as required by state regulations for the eligibility determination for special education related services.
    • Interpret educational evaluation reports to parents, teachers, principals and other appropriate staff members.
    • Participate in the decisions regarding classification, recommend placement and program development and implementation of the IEP.
    • Serve as a member of the I&RS team.
    • Work with building Intervention & Referral Services teams to enhance their academic performance and facilitate their progress in the general education curriculum.
    • Provide direct 1:1 services to students who are struggling with academic skill development, using developmentally appropriate, research-based approaches to skill building and the principles of student-centered assessment.
    • Continue to support intensive reading intervention practices.
    • Schedule weekly literacy group classes for at-risk students, as indicated by and based upon each student’s assessment data.
    • In the context of direct services to students, model developmentally appropriate, research-based approaches to skill building for teachers, so that their capacity to differentiate and provide instruction specific to student needs is increased beyond the direct instruction sessions.
    • Act as a resource person and consultant for Morris School District staff members, students, parents and the community.
    • Facilitate teacher-learning, outside of the regular instructional session, through individual interactions, small group interactions, and broader workshops in instructionally relevant areas, including, but not limited to, literacy strategies, differentiated instruction, student-centered assessment, conferencing, behavioral interventions, the intervention and referral team process, and other appropriate areas for instructional capacity building.
    • Communicate with and serve as members of appropriate school and community committees/agencies.
    • Maintain contacts with other professionals in the field of education.
    • Perform such other tasks and assuming such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services or designee.
    • Contract Terms: 184 days/year.

    Salary: In accordance with the established Morris School District Salary Guide currently ranging from $64,425 - $115,315
    Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits.
    Sick, personal and bereavement day allotments are included.

    Effective September 1, 2011, The New Jersey First Act implemented May 17, 2011, requires all employees of a school district to reside in the state of New Jersey. Employees of the Morris School District hired after the effective date who do not reside in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire have one year from the effective date of employment to relocate their primary residence to New Jersey. Employees of the school district hired prior to the September 1, 2011 effective date of this Act are grandfathered and are not required to relocate to New Jersey.
