Position: Full-Time Outside Sales Representative
Estimated Compensation: $40,000–$90,000 per year
Morris Sales Company, established in 1987, is an experienced wholesale distributor of lumber, plywood, shingles, drywall, and other building materials serving lumberyards, building-supply dealers, hardware stores, retailers, manufacturers, and other wholesale customers throughout North Mississippi and the surrounding region.
We are seeking a dependable, driven outside sales representative who can strengthen existing customer relationships, develop new wholesale accounts, and consistently follow through on commitments. This is not simply an order-taking position. We need someone who will actively pursue opportunities, communicate regularly with customers, and take ownership of accounts from the initial quote through delivery and follow-up.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing lumberyards, building-supply dealers, hardware stores, retailers, manufacturers, and other wholesale customers.
- Prospect for new qualified wholesale and dealer accounts within the assigned territory.
- Visit customers regularly to identify purchasing needs, inventory opportunities, and upcoming demand.
- Prepare accurate quotes and follow up until the order is won or lost.
- Promote Morris Sales products and help customers identify profitable purchasing opportunities.
- Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, office, and delivery personnel.
- Monitor product availability, pricing, margins, and delivery expectations.
- Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
- Track sales activity, opportunities, quotes, and follow-up commitments.
- Communicate market conditions, competitor activity, and customer feedback to management.
- Assist with account setup, credit applications, collections, and other customer-account matters when needed.
- Represent Morris Sales professionally throughout the territory.
Qualifications
- Previous outside sales experience is preferred.
- Experience in lumber, roofing, building materials, wholesale distribution, hardware, or dealer sales is strongly preferred.
- Existing relationships with lumberyards, building-supply dealers, hardware stores, or similar accounts are a major advantage.
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to develop customer relationships while maintaining pricing and margin discipline.
- Comfortable making cold calls, visiting customer locations, and pursuing new wholesale accounts.
- Basic computer, email, quoting, and order-entry skills.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and remain accountable for results.

This position will be measured by sales growth, gross profit, customer retention, new-account development, customer activity, and follow-through.
Compensation
- Base salary based on experience.
- Performance-based commission.
- Expected total annual compensation of approximately $40,000–$90,000.
- Additional earning potential for strong sales and gross-profit performance.
- Vehicle and travel arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.
